About Me

I totally appreciate that nobody has been waiting for my blog to arrive, …….. but it kind of feels good to put my thoughts online.

I started www.ksbkids.com in a feeble attempt to do something to better my situation.  I simply needed a job that would fit round the girls and I needed to make a living now I was on my own. However, as much as I love my kids it has been very rewarding to do something for me. The process has proved that “I” still exist although I for some time was hidden beneath nappies, baby food etc.

I have always admired the Scandinavian ability to dress their kids in cool, funky clothes without straying from the fact that kids should be dressed as kids and not as mini adults.  So the decision was soon made to set up an internet shop selling children’s clothes ………..well especially stripy and plain t-shirts and tops in bright, fun colours. I identified suppliers in Scandinavia, made contact with the companies and that was it……….well the start anyway.

I have no experience of the clothing industry (my Saturday job in NEXT had not provided me with any inside industry knowledge) and even when I exaggerate, my technical knowledge could be written on the back of a stamp. Neither did I have any experience of websites, ecommerce or social sites such as Facebook, Mumsnet etc..

I set the web site up from scratch, downloaded an open source tool, bought a book and just got on with it.  The story really is as simple as that. It has been frustrating beyond belief, I have pulled my hair out on numerous occasions, shouted at the kids when I shouldn’t have, suffered from insomnia. But it has all been worth it.

I set up www.KSBKids.com in 2007. I believe there is a niche in the market for top quality, trendy, bright and fun children’s clothes – especially tops and t-shirts. Customers often remark how nice it is to find a site that sell bright tops without slogans and logos.

If I could offer any advice it simply would be: ”Believe in what you are doing, work hard and don’t give up. You do to a large extend create your own luck!”.  With regard to finding your feet after divorce…….It takes time, you have to dig deep, things get better, – you never know it may even turn out better than what is was before.  I questioned myself (still do), am sceptical at times, but slowly my fighting spirit is returning!

I continue to be amazed with the support show to me by friends and so many customers. Their belief in me and KSBKids has never been in doubt and for that I am so thankful.
